Off the line, the 430i hits 100 km/h in 5.73 s versus 6.21 s for the John Cooper Works FWD. At this point, the 430i leads by 0.48 s and sits roughly 15 m ahead.
At 200 metres, the 430i is doing 132 km/h against 137 km/h for the John Cooper Works FWD. The gap is 0.47 s. The gap remains stable from the start.
At 400 metres standing start, the 430i crosses the line in 13.97 s versus 14.26 s. The 0.29 s gap represents roughly 14 m of track - two to three car lengths.
Past 400 metres, the situation changes. Past 400 metres, both rivals hit the same electronic ceiling at 250 (i.e. 155 mph - industry threshold) km/h. Neither can claw back ground through top speed - the outcome hinges on the acceleration curve between 100 and 250 (i.e. 155 mph - industry threshold) km/h.
At 1,000 metres, the John Cooper Works FWD finishes in 25.29 s versus 25.35 s. The 0.05 s delta shows an extremely tight race.
Electronically capped at 250 (i.e. 155 mph - industry threshold) km/h, the 430i never reaches its natural aerodynamic ceiling in this duel. That’s not a physical limit of the motor - it’s a deliberate manufacturer decision, typically tied to standard-fit tyre ratings or model-range positioning.
With two combustion powertrains, the difference comes down to power-to-weight ratio (5.99 kg/hp vs 5.09 kg/hp) and transmission (Automatic vs Automatic).
In European road use (130 km/h max), both vehicles reach the legal speed limit in under 8.91 seconds. The 0.48 s difference in 0 to 100 km/h is mostly felt in motorway merging and overtaking.
Over 0–100 km/h, 430i G22 wins (5,73 s vs 6,21 s).
430i G22 goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 5,73 seconds (calibrated simulation).
