Off the line, the A3 allstreet hits 100 km/h in 7.44 s versus 8.13 s for the 220d Gran Tourer. The instant torque of 350 Nm from the electric motor makes the difference. At this point, the A3 allstreet leads by 0.69 s and sits roughly 3 m ahead.
At 200 metres, the A3 allstreet is doing 120 km/h against 117 km/h for the 220d Gran Tourer. The gap is 0.22 s. The challenger starts to claw back ground.
At 400 metres standing start, the A3 allstreet crosses the line in 15.61 s versus 16.00 s. The 0.39 s gap represents roughly 15 m of track - two to three car lengths.
Past 400 metres, the A3 allstreet continues to build its lead. At 600 metres, it runs at 168 km/h versus 161 km/h. At 1,000 metres, the A3 allstreet finishes in 28.13 s versus 29.05 s, with a 0.92 s lead. Both vehicles have similar top speeds (230 vs 218 km/h), preventing any comeback.
Electronically capped at 220 km/h, the 220d Gran Tourer never reaches its natural aerodynamic ceiling in this duel. That’s not a physical limit of the motor - it’s a deliberate manufacturer decision, typically tied to standard-fit tyre ratings or model-range positioning.
Instant electric torque gives an advantage off the line. The higher top speed of the combustion engine gives an advantage over longer distances. The distance at which one catches the other depends on the top speed differential.
In European road use (130 km/h max), both vehicles reach the legal speed limit in under 12.91 seconds. The 0.69 s difference in 0 to 100 km/h is mostly felt in motorway merging and overtaking.
Over 0–100 km/h, A3 allstreet wins (7,44 s vs 8,13 s).
A3 allstreet goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 7,44 seconds (calibrated simulation).
