Off the line, the 220d Gran Tourer hits 100 km/h in 8.14 s versus 8.38 s for the A3 allstreet. Despite the faster sprint time, the A3 allstreet is 7 m further along the track at this moment: stronger low-speed acceleration offsets a slower run beyond 100 km/h.
At 200 metres, the A3 allstreet is doing 114 km/h against 118 km/h for the 220d Gran Tourer. The gap is 0.17 s. The gap remains stable from the start.
At 400 metres standing start, the 220d Gran Tourer crosses the line in 16.10 s versus 16.10 s. The 0.01 s gap represents roughly 0 m of track
Past 400 metres, the 220d Gran Tourer continues to build its lead. At 600 metres, it runs at 164 km/h versus 159 km/h. At 1,000 metres, the 220d Gran Tourer finishes in 28.97 s versus 29.31 s, with a 0.34 s lead. Both vehicles have similar top speeds (220 vs 223 km/h), preventing any comeback.
Electronically capped at 220 km/h, the 220d Gran Tourer never reaches its natural aerodynamic ceiling in this duel. That’s not a physical limit of the motor - it’s a deliberate manufacturer decision, typically tied to standard-fit tyre ratings or model-range positioning.
With two combustion powertrains, the difference comes down to power-to-weight ratio (8.18 kg/hp vs 9.57 kg/hp) and transmission (Automatic vs Automatic).
In European road use (130 km/h max), both vehicles reach the legal speed limit in under 13.44 seconds. The 0.24 s difference in 0 to 100 km/h is mostly felt in motorway merging and overtaking.
Over 0–100 km/h, 220d Gran Tourer F22 wins (8,14 s vs 8,38 s).
220d Gran Tourer F22 goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 8,14 seconds (calibrated simulation).
