Off the line, the M440i Gran Coupé hits 100 km/h in 4.94 s versus 5.73 s for the 430i. At this point, the M440i Gran Coupé leads by 0.79 s and sits roughly 5 m ahead.
At 200 metres, the M440i Gran Coupé is doing 144 km/h against 132 km/h for the 430i. The gap is 0.52 s. The challenger starts to claw back ground.
At 400 metres standing start, the M440i Gran Coupé crosses the line in 13.05 s versus 13.97 s. The 0.93 s gap represents roughly 42 m of track - a gap visible to the naked eye.
Past 400 metres, the M440i Gran Coupé continues to build its lead. At 600 metres, it runs at 202 km/h versus 185 km/h. At 1,000 metres, the M440i Gran Coupé finishes in 23.48 s versus 25.35 s, with a 1.87 s lead. Both vehicles have similar top speeds (250 (i.e. 155 mph - industry threshold) vs 250 (i.e. 155 mph - industry threshold) km/h), preventing any comeback.
Both rivals share the same electronic speed cap: the M440i Gran Coupé and the 430i are governed to 250 (i.e. 155 mph - industry threshold) km/h. At that speed, standard-fit tyres approach their safety threshold - an industrial ceiling common to most electric vehicles in this segment. Neither car shows its true aerodynamic potential in this duel.
With two combustion powertrains, the difference comes down to power-to-weight ratio (4.72 kg/hp vs 5.99 kg/hp) and transmission (Automatic vs Automatic).
In European road use (130 km/h max), both vehicles reach the legal speed limit in under 8.91 seconds. The 0.79 s difference in 0 to 100 km/h is mostly felt in motorway merging and overtaking.
Over 0–100 km/h, M440i Gran Coupé G22 wins (4,94 s vs 5,73 s).
M440i Gran Coupé G22 goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,94 seconds (calibrated simulation).
M440i Gran Coupé G22: 374 hp, ratio 4,72 kg/hp. 430i G22: 258 hp, ratio 5,99 kg/hp.
M440i Gran Coupé G22: 250 km/h. 430i G22: 250 km/h.
