Off the line, the X3 M Competition hits 100 km/h in 4.13 s versus 6.90 s for the X4 xDrive25d. At this point, the X3 M Competition leads by 2.77 s and sits roughly 19 m ahead.
At 200 metres, the X3 M Competition is doing 151 km/h against 121 km/h for the X4 xDrive25d. The gap is 1.81 s. The challenger starts to claw back ground.
At 400 metres standing start, the X3 M Competition crosses the line in 12.22 s versus 15.07 s. The 2.84 s gap represents roughly 113 m of track - a gap visible to the naked eye.
Past 400 metres, the X3 M Competition continues to build its lead. At 600 metres, it runs at 207 km/h versus 167 km/h. At 1,000 metres, the X3 M Competition finishes in 22.37 s versus 27.65 s, with a 5.28 s lead.
Both rivals are electronically governed, but not at the same level: the X3 M Competition is capped at 250 (i.e. 155 mph - industry threshold) km/h, the X4 xDrive25d at 230 km/h. This isn’t a physical engine limit - it’s a manufacturer choice, usually for tyre safety or homologation reasons. Neither car reaches its true aerodynamic top speed.
With two combustion powertrains, the difference comes down to power-to-weight ratio (3.91 kg/hp vs 7.60 kg/hp) and transmission (Automatic vs Automatic).
In European road use (130 km/h max), both vehicles reach the legal speed limit in under 11.19 seconds. The 2.77 s difference in 0 to 100 km/h is mostly felt in motorway merging and overtaking.
Over 0–100 km/h, X3 M Competition G01 wins (4,13 s vs 6,90 s).
X3 M Competition G01 goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,13 seconds (calibrated simulation).
