Off the line, the X6 xDrive40d hits 100 km/h in 5.73 s versus 7.11 s for the Cayenne (6-speed manual). At this point, the X6 xDrive40d leads by 1.38 s and sits roughly 17 m ahead.
At 200 metres, the X6 xDrive40d is doing 129 km/h against 125 km/h for the Cayenne (6-speed manual). The gap is 0.83 s. The challenger starts to claw back ground.
At 400 metres standing start, the X6 xDrive40d crosses the line in 14.08 s versus 15.11 s. The 1.03 s gap represents roughly 44 m of track - a gap visible to the naked eye.
Past 400 metres, the X6 xDrive40d continues to build its lead. At 600 metres, it runs at 177 km/h versus 174 km/h. At 1,000 metres, the X6 xDrive40d finishes in 25.97 s versus 27.24 s, with a 1.27 s lead. Both vehicles have similar top speeds (230 vs 230 km/h), preventing any comeback.
Both rivals share the same electronic speed cap: the X6 xDrive40d and the Cayenne (6-speed manual) are governed to 230 km/h. At that speed, standard-fit tyres approach their safety threshold - an industrial ceiling common to most electric vehicles in this segment. Neither car shows its true aerodynamic potential in this duel.
With two combustion powertrains, the difference comes down to power-to-weight ratio (6.73 kg/hp vs 6.56 kg/hp) and transmission (Automatic vs Manual).
In European road use (130 km/h max), both vehicles reach the legal speed limit in under 10.93 seconds. The 1.38 s difference in 0 to 100 km/h is mostly felt in motorway merging and overtaking.
Swap one of the two models to explore an equivalent duel in the same segment.
