Off the line, the X7 M50d hits 100 km/h in 5.49 s versus 7.78 s for the X1 xDrive20i. At this point, the X7 M50d leads by 2.29 s and sits roughly 15 m ahead.
At 200 metres, the X7 M50d is doing 132 km/h against 116 km/h for the X1 xDrive20i. The gap is 1.18 s. The challenger starts to claw back ground.
At 400 metres standing start, the X7 M50d crosses the line in 13.82 s versus 15.67 s. The 1.86 s gap represents roughly 72 m of track - a gap visible to the naked eye.
Past 400 metres, the X7 M50d continues to build its lead. At 600 metres, it runs at 184 km/h versus 161 km/h. At 1,000 metres, the X7 M50d finishes in 25.28 s versus 28.72 s, with a 3.44 s lead.
Both rivals are electronically governed, but not at the same level: the X7 M50d is capped at 250 (i.e. 155 mph - industry threshold) km/h, the X1 xDrive20i at 223 km/h. This isn’t a physical engine limit - it’s a manufacturer choice, usually for tyre safety or homologation reasons. Neither car reaches its true aerodynamic top speed.
With two combustion powertrains, the difference comes down to power-to-weight ratio (6.15 kg/hp vs 8.18 kg/hp) and transmission (Automatic vs Automatic).
In European road use (130 km/h max), both vehicles reach the legal speed limit in under 12.69 seconds. The 2.29 s difference in 0 to 100 km/h is mostly felt in motorway merging and overtaking.
Over 0–100 km/h, X7 M50d G07 wins (5,49 s vs 7,78 s).
X7 M50d G07 goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 5,49 seconds (calibrated simulation).
