The start: 0 to 100 km/h

Off the line, the Cayenne GTS hits 100 km/h in 4.92 s versus 5.19 s for the Panamera S. At this point, the Cayenne GTS leads by 0.28 s and sits roughly 6 m ahead.

From 100 km/h to 400 metres

At 200 metres, the Cayenne GTS is doing 141 km/h against 140 km/h for the Panamera S. The gap is 0.24 s. The gap remains stable from the start.

At 400 metres standing start, the Cayenne GTS crosses the line in 13.11 s versus 13.35 s. The 0.24 s gap represents roughly 12 m of track - two to three car lengths.

Beyond 400 metres: top speed comes into play

Past 400 metres, the gap narrows. The Cayenne GTS maxes out at 262 km/h while the Panamera S keeps accelerating towards 276 km/h. At 600 metres, the gap has dropped to 0.24 s.

At 1,000 metres, the Cayenne GTS finishes in 23.91 s versus 24.06 s, with just 0.15 s to spare. The Panamera S fails to fully close the launch gap.

What the numbers don’t tell you

The Cayenne GTS features all-wheel drive (AWD) against the Panamera S’s RWD. At low speeds (0-30, 0-50, 0-80 km/h), AWD doubles the driven contact area: all four wheels transmit torque to the road, virtually eliminating wheelspin at launch. This traction advantage is decisive in the range where the motor delivers peak torque, before power and aerodynamics take over.

Both rivals are electronically governed, but not at the same level: the Cayenne GTS is capped at 262 km/h, the Panamera S at 282 km/h. This isn’t a physical engine limit - it’s a manufacturer choice, usually for tyre safety or homologation reasons. Neither car reaches its true aerodynamic top speed.

With two combustion powertrains, the difference comes down to power-to-weight ratio (4.80 kg/hp vs 4.43 kg/hp) and transmission (Unknown vs Automatic).

In European road use (130 km/h max), both vehicles reach the legal speed limit in under 7.78 seconds. The 0.28 s difference in 0 to 100 km/h is mostly felt in motorway merging and overtaking.
