The start: 0 to 100 km/h

Off the line, the Seal 313 2WD hits 100 km/h in 6.00 s versus 6.83 s for the 320d. The instant torque of 360 Nm from the electric motor makes the difference. Despite the faster sprint time, the 320d is 7 m further along the track at this moment: stronger low-speed acceleration offsets a slower run beyond 100 km/h.

From 100 km/h to 400 metres

At 200 metres, the Seal 313 2WD is doing 135 km/h against 120 km/h for the 320d. The gap is 0.16 s. The challenger starts to claw back ground.

At 400 metres standing start, the Seal 313 2WD crosses the line in 14.21 s versus 14.95 s. The 0.75 s gap represents roughly 30 m of track - a gap visible to the naked eye.

Beyond 400 metres: top speed comes into play

Past 400 metres, the Seal 313 2WD continues to build its lead. At 600 metres, it runs at 180 km/h versus 166 km/h. At 1,000 metres, the Seal 313 2WD finishes in 26.31 s versus 27.60 s, with a 1.28 s lead. Despite a higher top speed (240 km/h), the 320d never recovers its launch deficit.

What the numbers don’t tell you

Both rivals are electronically governed, but not at the same level: the Seal 313 2WD is capped at 180 km/h, the 320d at 240 km/h. This isn’t a physical engine limit - it’s a manufacturer choice, usually for tyre safety or homologation reasons. Neither car reaches its true aerodynamic top speed.

Instant electric torque gives an advantage off the line. The higher top speed of the combustion engine gives an advantage over longer distances. The distance at which one catches the other depends on the top speed differential.

In European road use (130 km/h max), both vehicles reach the legal speed limit in under 11.30 seconds. The 0.83 s difference in 0 to 100 km/h is mostly felt in motorway merging and overtaking.
