The start: 0 to 100 km/h

Off the line, the Model 3 Performance hits 100 km/h in 3.29 s versus 3.74 s for the F-TYPE R P575. The instant torque of 698 Nm from the electric motor makes the difference. At this point, the Model 3 Performance leads by 0.45 s and sits roughly 8 m ahead.

From 100 km/h to 400 metres

At 200 metres, the Model 3 Performance is doing 157 km/h against 165 km/h for the F-TYPE R P575. The gap is 0.26 s. The challenger starts to claw back ground.

At 400 metres standing start, the Model 3 Performance crosses the line in 11.49 s versus 11.52 s. The 0.04 s gap represents roughly 2 m of track - barely a car length.

Beyond 400 metres: top speed comes into play

Past 400 metres, the situation changes. The Model 3 Performance maxes out at 261 km/h while the F-TYPE R P575 keeps accelerating towards 300 km/h. At 600 metres, the gap has dropped to 0.18 s.

Around 432 metres, both vehicles are level. This is the inversion point: the F-TYPE R P575 overcomes its launch deficit thanks to a 39 km/h higher top speed.

At 1,000 metres, the F-TYPE R P575 finishes in 20.70 s versus 21.21 s. The 0.51 s delta in favour of the F-TYPE R P575 shows that top speed makes a clear difference.

What the numbers don’t tell you

On paper, the F-TYPE R P575 combines 575 hp, 700 Nm and 1,745 kg - a clear theoretical edge over the Model 3 Performance. Yet the Model 3 Performance launches quicker. At standstill, both motors deliver peak torque from 0 rpm: the decisive factor is no longer raw power, but available grip. If the Model 3 Performance has a better traction coefficient (tyres, weight distribution, traction control calibration), it puts down more force despite inferior specs - exactly what the simulation reflects, calibrated on manufacturer 0-100 km/h times.

Both rivals are electronically governed, but not at the same level: the F-TYPE R P575 is capped at 300 km/h, the Model 3 Performance at 261 km/h. This isn’t a physical engine limit - it’s a manufacturer choice, usually for tyre safety or homologation reasons. Neither car reaches its true aerodynamic top speed.

Instant electric torque gives an advantage off the line. The higher top speed of the combustion engine gives an advantage over longer distances. The distance at which one catches the other depends on the top speed differential.

In European road use (130 km/h max), both vehicles reach the legal speed limit in under 5.27 seconds. The 0.45 s difference in 0 to 100 km/h is mostly felt in motorway merging and overtaking.
